Mehdi Benatia believes Real Madrid made a mistake when they sold Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018, and he has advised Juventus not to repeat the error.
The Moroccan defender spent one and a half years in Turin alongside Ronaldo before departing in January 2019. During their time together, they won the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana.
As a result, Benatia, like most football fans, is keeping an eye on the future of his former comrade. He wants Ronaldo to stay at Juventus for at least another season, even if it means he will be a free agent next summer when his contract expires.
Benatia told Tutto Juve, “I don’t know anything about Cristiano, but as a fan, I hope he stays.” “At 36 years old, he is still a war machine capable of shattering all sorts of records.
“You have to keep a player like that for the rest of his career.”
“Real Madrid were foolish to sell him,” Benatia, who now plays for Fatih Karagumruk in Turkey, added. Juve should not repeat the same error.”
Will Ronaldo leave Juventus this season?
Short Answer – No.
After his friend, Edu Aguirre, said the Spanish giants wanted to re-sign him earlier in the week, Ronaldo turned to Instagram to put an end to rumours associating him with a return to Real Madrid.
Even Allegri confirmed Ronaldo is staying at Juventus for another season and will most likley start against Udinese.
