“I spoke to him weeks ago,” says Bruno Fernandes, on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has stated that he spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo some weeks ago. In the midst of speculations tying him to a move away from Old Trafford, he expects to see him at pre-season training.

The Red Devils signed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from Juventus last summer in the hope that he would be the player to lead the club to a Premier League title.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 18 goals in 30 Premier League games, the 13-time Premier League winners finished sixth. They failed to qualify for the Champions League for the next season and concluded the season without a title.

Manchester United has appointed Erik ten Hag as their next manager, and the club is set to start a rebuilding process under the Dutchman.

Despite the club’s severe need for reinforcements, no players have been signed this summer. The lack of transfer activity has left Cristiano Ronaldo dissatisfied and doubting the club’s future (as per AS). This has cast doubt on his future at Manchester United. Fernandes, on the other hand, has stated that he expects to see the attacker during pre-season training, implying that he may stay at United.

Bruno Fernandes stated to the Record:

“Cristiano Ronaldo situation? I spoke to him weeks ago, so I expect to meet Cristiano on day 4 for the pre-season trainings- and there’s nothing else.”

Manchester United are ready to part ways with Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard when their contracts expire on June 30. Last season, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford combined for seven Premier League goals. As a result, the Red Devils are unlikely to accept the possibility of losing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
