Following his team’s victory over Switzerland, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo shared an uplifting message on social media. Last night (June 5) at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, the Selecao crushed their opponents 4-0 in the UEFA Nations League.
After William Carvalho began the scoring, Ronaldo scored twice in four first-half minutes to put his team up by three goals. Joao Cancelo of Manchester City added a fourth goal in the 68th minute to complete an overwhelming victory for Fernando Santos’ side.

“A significant win in our trip, a lot of pride and faith in this squad, and a lot of strength to give the Portuguese what they want: triumphs and compelling exhibitions.”
“It feels like the season is coming to a close, but actually… this is only the beginning,” the 37-year-old continued.
Portugal’s victory over Switzerland was significant since it propelled them to the top of their Nations League group. They currently have four points from two games after drawing their opening game against Spain 1-1.
Ronaldo and company will be back in action on June 9 when they face the Czech Republic. Portugal will subsequently face Switzerland in the rematch on June 12 at the Stade de Geneve.
